Mia Johnson, MSPC, Guest Speaker

Mia is a speaker, published author, consultant, therapist, and ordained minister with a personal mission of empowering others to live life on purpose by making the most of every opportunity for social and economic development. Being raised in an impoverished community in Houston, TX by positive, hardworking women (her mother and grandmother), the determination to break through the glass ceiling of social and economic defeat became non-negotiable. Academic achievement was not an option, and her mother's mission became providing exposure to life by pursuing opportunities for Mia to take professional ballet and tap dance lessons as a child, attend cultural events, become a Girls Scout, accrue over 250 hours of community service at Memorial NW Hospital, pursue years of woodwind musical instrument training which led to performances with the Houston City Youth Orchestra, as well as matriculate through magnet school programs which allowed for visits to The Governor's Mansion and The White House.

Mia graduated in the top 10% of her high school class and later went on to receive a B.S. in Psychology (Counseling Concentration), and a Master's in Professional Counseling. Mia is currently five courses away from the completion of her doctorate degree in Christian Psychology and is a licensed clinical member and certified pastoral counselor (N.C.C.A.), and is a Certified & Licensed Temperament Therapist.

Mia has almost 20 years of professional experience in professional counseling and management in a state government agency. Additionally, she is the organizing leader and Chartering President of The National Coalition of 100 Black Women, Inc. (NCBW) Dallas Metropolitan Chapter (est. 6/9/18). In April 2023, she began to organize the Fort Worth Metropolitan Chapter and is now the elected Chartering President (est. 9/16/23). Mia also serves at the national level for NCBW’s Health Committee, Leadership Conference Committee, Strategic Planning and Implementation Committee, and is an elected member of the Nominating Committee.

When Mia is not advocating through national and local programming with NCBW, she is providing consulting and therapeutic services to leading women as a Leadership Development Consultant through her consulting business, The Johnson Collective. Through The Johnson Collective, Mia works to address the common struggles that women entrepreneurs and leading ladies in both corporations and ministries may encounter when balancing their lives as wives, mothers, ministry leaders, and entrepreneurs.

Mia’s hobbies include traveling, binge watching shows on streaming services, maintaining her air hockey “Queen” crown, and surfing Pinterest. Mia's personal life mission and motto has been and continues to be "If there is a problem, there is a solution" and thus believes that our responsibility to society, our families, and our God given purpose is to be the conduit by which solutions are birthed.
